Since its introduction the Hottop KN-8828 line of roasters have undergone many improvements, design changes, and updates. While they look very much the same externally, nearly every working part inside has been changed since that first model. The main circuit board, drum motor and gear case, the drum itself, thermal safety fuse, ejection mechanism and solenoid, drum front bearing, cooling agitation motor, the cooling agitation arm, and more have all been redesigned over the years. These changes all combine to make the Hottop KN-8828 line of coffee roasters some of the most respected and dependable home coffee roasters ever offered.

     The newest update to our two current models, the KN-8828B-2 and the KN-8828P-2, is one that adds yet another safety feature.

New to the KN-8828B-2 is the addition of a knob on the back of the machine, below the main ventilation fan. In emergency situations, such as a power outage or a failure of the electrical ejection mechanism, the user can pull this knob and manually eject the beans.

     The manual eject mechanism is designed to be used in an emergency when the beans become trapped in the roasting chamber. This can be caused by a failure of the users mains power, accidentally unplugging of the power cord, a failure of the ejection solenoid, or possibly a jammed ejection door. In such cases as those, the user only needs to pull the knob as shown here in this animation and the ejection door will be pulled to the fully open position as long as the knob is held out.

      The thermal safety fuse, programmed temperature safety points in the control system, factory-programmed maximum temperature point, and the emergency eject knob are all designed to increase the safety of roasting coffee at home.

The two updated models (KN-8828B-2 and the KN-8828P-2) offer all the same features and quality construction which have made the Hottop Coffee Roaster the benchmark of home coffee roasting. Some of these features include:
- Large cooling tray with forced air cooling quickly ends the roast and removes heat from the beans- a critical function for best taste
- Large glass window allows viewing of the beans during the roast
- Extremely quiet operation makes it easy to hear the cracks of the roasting beans
